Winner of the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2014, this documentary directed by Morgan Neville and produced by Gil Friesen, a music industry executive, takes a behind-the-scenes look at the lives, aspirations and struggles of a group of backup singers including American vocalist-songwriter and Grammy Award winner, Lisa Fischer. Singer-writer and backing vocalist Yoyo Sham will share her experience with the audience after the screening.

About Yoyo Sham

Singer-writer Yoyo Sham was born and raised in Hong Kong. She graduated from the York University of Canada. In 2010, Yoyo was invited to perform as a backing vocalist in Eason Chan’s concert DUO and gave a memorable a capella rendition of “The End of The World” which bought her to the spotlight. Since then, Yoyo continues to perform as the backing voice alongside notable Chinese singers including Sandy Lam, Khalil Fong, Tanya Chua and Joey Yung. In 2015, Yoyo was nominated for “Overseas Music Award” at the Golden Indie Music Awards. She was awarded “Best New Female Artist” at the 16th Chinese Music Media Awards in the same year.
